The French Open is the second tennis Grand Slam tournament of the year and takes place in Paris, France.
In 2018 the tournament starts on 27 May and ends on 10 June.

Historie
The first French Open was held in Paris in 1891. Initially the tournament was reserved for men; women were admitted only from 1897. In its early years it was played on grass. In 1928 a new tennis stadium was built and dedicated to French aviator Roland Garros. At the same time, the red-clay surface that remains typical today was introduced at the venue.
Plans to relocate or expand the venue have so far been blocked by local residents. Its spectator capacity is the smallest of the Grand Slam venues.
Spielort
The tennis facility Stade Roland Garros is located on the edge of the Bois de Boulogne in Paris.
The two main courts are the Court Philippe Chatrier (the main centre court), with a capacity of 15.059 seats, and Court Suzanne Lenglen, which accommodates 10.076 spectators.

Anreise
The venue sits in the middle of a residential area. The parking situation can only be described as disastrous.
Visitors are strongly advised to travel by taxi or metro (line 10, station "Porte d'Auteuil") anzureisen.
