For Google online advertising, an advertiser pays more the more often its displayed advertising link is clicked. Fraudsters can deliberately increase click rates with click robots, click farms and botnets, for example to raise a competitor’s advertising costs. Click farms are groups of hired people who manually click the desired advertising links. Click robots do this through software. In botnets, click robots work in parallel on different computers. Google has repeatedly been vorgeworfen, to take insufficient action against this kind of click fraud. (ola/c't)
