Thomas Muster announced the end of his career on Tuesday at the ATP tournament in Vienna.
The 44-year-old, who had entered his final tournament with a wildcard, lost his first-round match on Tuesday evening to his fellow countryman Dominic Thiem, who is only 18, 2:6, 3:6, and afterwards announced the end of his career in tears.

"The atmosphere was incredible. I did not know whether to cry or play", said Muster.
"My family needs me now more than tennis needs me. That was definitely my last match on the ATP Tour."
