In 1879, he won by walkover against Frank Hadow, der in Wimbledon had not played again after his victory.
At the time, the previous year's winner only had to play the final.
1880 he won in men's singles at Wimbledon against Herbert Lawford 6:3 6:2 2:6 6:3
In 1881, he lost the final to William Renshaw mit 0:6 1:6 and 1:6.
